Hotel Naumi.

September 13, 2011

Singapore is an expensive city.

Staying in the Raffles hotel, for example, would have been north of $750 a night.  While nice, we weren’t convinced this was the best choice.  A little online searching revealed a boutique art hotel directly across the street from Raffles, Hotel Naumi.

In a world of unending sameness (I can stay at AnyHotel in AnyTown, USA and find my away around the room in the dark as if it were my own), Naumi is a breath of fresh air.  An art hotel, the rooms are quirky and livable at the same time.

The kitchen area (not quite a kitchen, but far more than a simple sink) looked all the world like something out of Mad Men.

The Pheebs was totally at home in this hotel room, quirky person she is.

It came down to three things for the Pheebs.

First and foremost, it had to have a decent bathroom. The bechauso inspector has to have things just so, and this bathroom did deliver.

I liked the leather embossed TV remote cover, personally. We never turned it on (as is the case with us and television these days), but it was a neat touch.

Cool, huh?

I also like the orange chair; reminded me of the chair Bob (my brother) has in his living room.  It sticks out like a sore thumb, but is soo comfortable.

Second, the hotel had a pattern motif which repeated though out.

The same pattern was on a metal sculpture above our bed, too.  Reminded us of work our daughters have done – very Pheebish.

The Piece ‘d resistance, however?

Easy.

Naumi has a tenth-floor infinity pool, deck and lounge area overlooking the skyline of Singapore.

One could easily imagine they were living the luxe life atop this penthouse perch.

It was well worth the $300 a night we spent, including a full breakfast.

I like that it relaxed the Pheebs to the point where she took “artistic’ photos.

Will we return?  Yes, indeedy!

Some posts are better than others; a function of mood and content. I’m missing the Pheebs terribly at this point – along with Key West.

They are quite Pheebish, set against a stunning skyline, too!
